Andres, an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Rachel Roberts-Galbraith's lab, is the first undergraduate from UGA to receive the Matthew Pecot Fellowship awarded by the McKnight Foundation. The fellowship honors students who are planning to attend graduate school.

Dr. Julie Stanton is one of three University of Georgia faculty members to be awarded the Russell Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in 2022. Russell Awards recognize outstanding teaching by faculty early in their academic careers.

Mayara Bertolini, a third year PhD student in the laboratory of Dr. Roberto Docampo, has been awarded a predoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association.

Congratulations to Shannon Quinn for being selected as one of 23 early career scientists to win funding for research to accelerate the development of the next generation of imaging technologies as part of the inaugural year of Scialog: Advancing BioImaging.

 

 

Malaria’s connection to Georgia goes back to the colonial period. The Southeastern United States provided prime conditions for a thriving mosquito population which ensured the spread of the disease.
