Samarchith Kurup, a fourth year graduate student in the Tarleton Lab, won the People's Choice Award in the 2012 Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition for his presentation "Improving Immunity to Trypanosoma Cruzi".

Dr. Veronica Jimenez, a postdoctoral fellow in the Docampo Lab, won a "Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00)" from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She will develop her work on the "Characterization of potassium channels in the human parasite Trypanosoma cruzi" .

Graduate student Noelia Lander was awarded a one-year continuation of her predoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association.

Dr. Silvia Moreno has identified a potential target for new therapies against toxoplasma infection.

Boyd Scholarship goes to graduate student who displays high moral/academic standards and who gives back to community after a University-wide competition. Kenji has also won an NSF-funded predoctoral scholarship from the Southern Regional Education Board.
