The Tarleton research group hopes to reduce a deadly parasite's toll on humans by vaccinating dogs against the parasite that causes Chagas disease.

Dr. Fechheimer's achievements have been recognized in UGA Today.

Dr. Tarleton is recognized for his research on Chagas disease and its cause, the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi.

Swati was honored for her thesis research on protein transport in the parasite Toxoplasma. She recently graduated and is currently conducting postdoctoral research at University of Michigan Medical School.

Samarchith Kurup, a fourth year graduate student in the Tarleton Lab, won the People's Choice Award in the 2012 Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition for his presentation "Improving Immunity to Trypanosoma Cruzi".
