Celebrating a Successful CBIO Retreat: A Strong Start to the New Academic Year

As we embark on a new academic journey, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made the recent CBIO retreat such a resounding success. The energy, enthusiasm, and dedication of our community members were on full display, and it was truly inspiring to witness.

The retreat provided a wonderful platform to explore new research, welcome new faces to our community, and celebrate the significant milestone of moving nearly half of our department into the brand-new Cedar St. C building. We encourage everyone to drop by and see the new space!

We are thrilled to congratulate our outstanding award-winning presenters:
  • Kaelynn Parker – Best Short Talk
  • Christina Endara-Arnold – Best Flash Talk
  • Poulomi Das – Best Poster

A picture of these talented individuals is attached, and we encourage you to share it on social media, as well as on your lab and department websites.

We also want to extend our sincere gratitude to all the trainees who presented their remarkable work through posters and talks. Your contributions were invaluable to the retreat’s success.

A special thank you goes out to Rachel, Julie, Laverne and Olena for their support and assistance in preparing for the retreat. We also appreciate the Graduate Student Association (GSA) for organizing the social aspects of the retreat and for their creative input. Our thanks also go to Courtney, Rob, Kim, Jim, and Dennis for their insightful presentations about the department, and to the faculty members who took the time to judge the presentations.

Lastly, we are grateful to everyone who participated, especially those who went the extra mile to help set up and clean up. The success of this event truly reflects the collaborative spirit of our CBIO community.
