Graduate student Noelia Lander was awarded a one-year continuation of her predoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association. Noelia studies polyphosphate metabolism in Trypanosoma cruzi, the agent of Chagas disease, an endemic and heart failure-inducing disease affecting 10 million people in Latin America.
Boyd Scholarship goes to graduate student who displays high moral/academic standards and who gives back to community after a University-wide competition. Kenji has also won an NSF-funded predoctoral scholarship from the Southern Regional Education Board. This scholarship will provide her stipend for up to three years.
